When fitting tatami into modern European rooms there is always the difficulty of the room size not fitting the Tatami mats. We offer a cutting service to trim the tatami to whatever length or width is required for your particular layout.
The Tatami is finished with a glued edge. The standard cost per cut is £107.00 Cut to order with glued finish (the price is per cut). The Tatami are factory cut and NOT cut on site. For example, there are two cuts for a 90x180 Tatami cut down to 85x165
We advise purchasing the bulk of the tatami mats first, arranging them in the positions required, then carefully measuring the remainder that require cuts, then re-ordering the cut tatami to avoid any measurement problems. The images below show the quality of the cutting. You will notice the "V" stitching pattern on the side of the mat which is the uncut picture, with the cut side the tatami tape only is visible, without stitching.

This is the cost of the cutting service, it does not include the mat which must be purchased separately and be oversize to your requirements

In our view, cutting mats to exactly fit the room does not look good - it is much better to use a full mat or shortened mat wherever possible
