Three new patterns have been added to the Warlon Basic Series:

No.84 Ichimatsu Rakusui

A modern interpretation combining the traditional Ichimatsu, or checkerboard, pattern with the flowing effect of Rakusui. Available as 0.2mm Warlon Sheet in 930 × 1850mm and 930 × 2150mm formats.

Warlon Sheet is natural Washi laminated on both sides with PVC resin. It retains the visual character of Japanese paper while providing greater resistance to everyday wear and allowing the surface to be wiped clean. Technical Information

Thermal Movement

Warlon materials are affected by temperature changes and should be installed with adequate clearance. The catalogue gives approximately 0.8mm per metre for every 10°C change for many rigid Warlon materials.

Acry Warlon has a similar temperature movement, while humidity also contributes to dimensional change. The catalogue therefore recommends allowing suitable clearance when Acry Warlon is installed in doors, screens, ceilings and lighting applications.

Cleaning

For most Warlon Sheet, Plate and Acry products, cleaning can be carried out using water or a mild neutral detergent and a soft cloth.

The catalogue specifically notes that the Washi surface of the 2R one-side products must not be wiped.

Installation

Rigid Warlon Plate should generally be installed using an inset or drop-in method rather than being fully bonded, allowing for thermal movement.

For Warlon Sheet, the thicker 0.45mm material should also be installed with particular attention to weight, movement and the method of retention.

Acry Warlon must likewise be installed with adequate clearance, particularly where large temperature or humidity changes may occur.

Flame Resistance

Many Warlon Sheet and Plate products are certified as flame-retardant products in Japan.

The catalogue makes an important distinction between flame-retardant certification and non-combustible classification; they are not the same thing.

The catalogue also identifies certain products with railway combustion classifications and explains the relevant limitations.

Natural Variation

Because many Warlon products contain natural Japanese Washi, natural fibre variation, bark remnants, fibre marks and differences in appearance can occur. These characteristics are part of the material rather than defects.

Light Transmission and UV Protection

Warlon products are available with different levels of light transmission and privacy. The catalogue includes reference measurements for visible-light transmission and UV-cut performance across the various ranges.
